As-salamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullah,
This past Monday, our city officially welcomed Marty J. Walsh as our new Mayor of Boston! Thousands joined in for the inauguration ceremony at Conte Stadium and for the evening celebration at the Hynes Convention Center. This is a very special time for our city. Mayor Walsh stated in his inauguration address, “Together, we can create ONE Boston…one Boston, a hub of opportunity, community, and equality for all.” As we embark on a New Year and new chapter in Boston’s history, let us join together in creating a stronger, more unified community and city inshaAllah!
On Friday, January 17th Temple Israel will host their Annual Shabbat Tzedek (“Sabbath of Justice”) to celebrate the Life and Legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.! Our very own Imam Suhaib Webb will be the honored keynote speaker. Please join Temple Israel, Imam Suhaib and our friends from the interfaith community to remember a great leader who fought for Civil Rights and justice for all!
Congratulations to Mayor Walsh and our newly- and re-elected Boston City Councilors! We pray that their service brings light to our great city inshAllah.
Sincerely,
Suzan El-Rayess
Director of Development
